Laurel Morey

Trinity - Laurel Morey, age 79, passed away October 17, 2023, at Aspire at Countryside in Palm Harbor. She was born January 10, 1944, in Rockford, IL. She was a graduate of Harlem High School, in Loves Park, IL Class of 1962. She was an Engineering Analyst for Abar-Ipsen Industries in Rockford, Illinois, and owner of Laurel's Jewelry Design. In 2004, she and her daughter left Rockford for warmer climates in the Tampa Bay Area. She absolutely loved crafting and making jewelry. You would see her out at a lot of the craft fairs in the Tampa Bay Area! She was a social butterfly and when she moved to Trinity Place, the assisted living facility, she was involved with every craft she could do. She loved dogs and cats, but especially dogs. She never met a dog she didn’t like. She absolutely loved her Tampa Bay Lightning and loved going to the games. In the past couple years, she was able to knock off a couple bucket items on her list, which included a cruise with her daughter, and a trip to Alaska with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Bartow. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester Morey, parents Raymond & Leah (McDaniel) Husen, brothers Richard Husen & William Husen, sister Dorothy Day and sister-in-law Evelyn Husen, sister-in-law Mary Husen and brother-in-law Richard Day. She was survived by her daughter Jan Snelling (Vito Sernas) of Trinity, beloved step-sons Archie Morey (Michelle) & Mitch Morey (Melinda) of Machesney Park, IL and 3 grandchildren and many fur kid grandchildren. Special thank you to the Assisted Living Facility at Trinity Place, who took special care of her on a day-to-day basis during her two years there.
