Larry E. "Sonny" Starling

Bartow- Larry E. "Sonny" Starling, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in Bartow. Born on September 18, 1939 in Bartow, he was the son of the late Minor Calhoun Starling and DeLola Elizabeth (Duke) Starling, A lifelong resident of Bartow, Mr. Starling was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church in Bartow. Larry retired from IMC Agrico where he was a Locomotive Engineer for 38 years. Along with his parents, Mr. Starling was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Adkins. Mr. Starling is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 53 years, Janell Starling of Bartow, his two daughters: Cynthia Rangel (Abel) of Lakeland and Patti Parker (Vince) of Bartow. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Catherine, Justin, Trevor, Zach, Zoie, Emily, Zavier, and his great grandchildren: Mia Sky, Junior, Sebastian, Mia Rae and Zero. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13th from 1pm to 2pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. A celebration of his life will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
