Kurtis Alan Vieth, 62, of New Port Richey, died October 1, 2024 following complications from surgery for Compartment Leg Syndrome. He was born October 25,1961, to Willard and Mattie Smith Vieth. He attended school in Bartow and Kathleen. During his senior year in high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, having served with deep commitment and courage, and as a Veteran, he regarded said service to his country, and that experience, with unmistakable pride and seriousness, then and throughout his life. During his time serving aboard the USS Nimitz, he completed his GED and attained a Naval PR3 rank. He built pole barns in the Wisconsin winters and drove trucks across the country. He created delicate pencil art, knotted perfect macro art and flew drones with remarkable precision. Fishing, playing and producing music were his deeply invested passions. He was a man of strong faith - one that shaped how he looked at the world and those in it through his prayers and unfailing trust in Jesus. He approached life with unusual intensity, warmth and humor, even of himself, knowing he wasn't a perfect man. A large part of his days he spent helping disabled Veterans, and even though there were maintenance men on site at the high-rise senior apartment complex where they lived, the many widows preferred Kurtis being their personal handyman and running their errands for them. He is survived by his wife and loving soulmate, Sheri; his sisters, Betty Rehberg, and Patty Alexander (Tommy). His parents, sisters, Luana Vieth, Linda Vieth, and brother, Karl Vieth, predeceased him.
The family will be honoring and remembering the legacies of two special men, Kurtis and Betty's husband, Philip Rehberg, who passed away on August 12, 2026, brothers-in-law on earth and now their joined spirits in heaven, at noon following their regular worship service, on Sunday, October 25th at McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church, 695 West Stuart Street, Bartow.
