Kristi H. Breed

March 28, 1964 — April 4, 2015

Kristi Breed was born in Sebring, Florida and spent her entire adult life in Polk County. Kristi walked with our LORD, and was a sterling example of a Proverbs 31 Wife, Mother and Friend. As an active member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow, she served as Sabbath Knights Director, Sunday School Teacher, Crusaders Class Member and WOC Circle member. With a humble servant’s heart, Kristi loved serving her LORD and Savior. Her sweet smile could light up a stadium, and her sparkling voice was the soundtrack of our lives. She graduated from Sebring High School and South Florida Community College (now S.F. State College) and while she was most proud of her accomplishment as a wife and mother, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse, the co-Founder of Geneva Classical Academy, and the founder and President of CivilSurv Design Group, Inc. As an incredible employer, she cared deeply for the families that make up the CivilSurv Team, and she was loved by all. Her numerous accolades include recognition as an Honorary Member and Sustaining Firm of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society, the Geneva Founders and Backbone Awards and active membership in the Ridge League of Cities and the Polk County Business and Consultant communities. Kristi was a beloved and true friend to everyone, a comforting mother, a loving wife, a spoiling grandmother, the best Aunt, beloved sister and daughter, and the ultimate hostess. She was a rabid Gator Fan and the Queen of the TailGators. As a passionate offshore fisherman, she was always seeking one more run across the horizon, knowing in her heart there were birds on one more weed line. A true Florida cracker, she was most comfortable in her bare feet and in love with all things outdoors, especially the water. She is survived by her husband of nearly 32 years, Jack; her children Jacob and Brandi Breed, and Luke Breed; and her grandson Case Breed, all of Bartow; her parents Wayne and Sandra Harris of Sebring; her siblings Mark and Brook Breed, Charlotte Heston, Kenneth and Hollie Johnson, Kerry and Pam Harris, all of Sebring; David and Paula Breed, of Panama City Beach; and 12 nieces and nephews. Kristi entered this world on the Saturday before Easter in 1964. On April 4, the Saturday before Easter of 2015, our sovereign LORD and Savior called Kristi home, after a 7-month battle with extremely rare cholangiocarcinoma. She was at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home (650 East Main Street, Bartow), on Thursday evening, April 9, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow (205 East Stanford Street), at 11:00am on Friday morning, April 10, 2015. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery (South Woodlawn Avenue at West Stuart Street, Bartow). Kristi wants her passing to be a message of HOPE. Her prayer was that this trial would drive us to our knees and that you would walk closer with her LORD. She wants you to have the same hope and assurance that she had. Throughout this trial, she proclaimed Psalm 78: “…tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” In lieu of flowers, it was Kristi’s expressed wish that you make donations to two of the many ministries that were dear to her heart: (1) For her beloved Uncle Chester and Aunt Beverly’s Vietnam Ministry: IndoChina Partners, Inc., P.O. Box 728, Williston, FL 32696; and (2) For support of her nephew, David M. Breed, Campus Outreach Inc., P.O. Box 43737, Birmingham, AL 35243 Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
