Kenneth E. Johnting

Kenneth E. Johnting, Sr., age 85, passed away from cancer on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at his home in Alturas. Born April 6, 1929 in Laurel, IN, he was the son of the late Ralph and Susie Johnting. Mr. Johnting was a lifelong farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. Mr. Johnting is also preceded in death by his siblings: Jim, Omer, Everett, Frank Johnting, and Vivian Gideon. He is survived by a loving family, that includes his wife of 50 years Mary Johnting of Alturas, his children: Karen Blansett, Nancy Thomason (John), Cheryl Hazen (Jay) all of Lakeland, and Kenny Johnting, Jr. (Melissa) of Bartow. He also leaves behind his brother Ralph Johnting (Burnita) of Lynn, IN, his sister Violet Mae Pilcher (Alfred) of Englewood, OH, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8th from 6 PM to 8 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, July 9th at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
