Kenneth J Godwin

Bartow- Kenneth J. Godwin 81, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from respiratory failure. Kenny was born May 18, 1933 in Bartow, FL. He spent two years in the US Army after graduating from Bartow Summerlin Institute. He served in Korea (1954-1955) during the Korean Conflict as a Field Radio Mechanic and 8 years US Army Reserves. Mr. Godwin was a Game Warden for the State of Florida, worked as a Elevator Technican and ended his career as a Maintenance Mechanic Electrician for the Phosphate industry. He was member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley. He is survived by three sons Mike Godwin & wife Betsy of Winter Haven, Tim Godwin & wife Karen of Lakeland and John Godwin & wife Julia of Bartow. Four grandsons Jacob Godwin, Nick Godwin, Tim Godwin, Jr and Justin Godwin. Two sisters Teresa Corbitt & Barbara Gomez and great granddaughter Rylann Godwin. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2015, at 10:00 am at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Bartow. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
