Katie "Ruth" Wilson Johnson

Katie "Ruth" Wilson Johnson passed away at her home in Bartow on October, 22, 2015. Ruth was born on March 5, 1927 in Samson, Alabama to the late Willie and Emma Mae Wilson. She moved with her family from Coffee Springs, Alabama as a child to Bartow where she resided the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Malcolm Lenton Johnson, sister Ruby, and brothers Huey, Dewey, and Luke. She is survived by her daughter Carla Meeks ( Mark), a grandson Lenton Meeks ( Heather), a granddaughter Katelyn Meeks, great-grandaughter Madison Meeks, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was employed by GTE for 34 years and was a Mary Kay Consultant for over 25 years. After retiring from GTE, Ruth owned and operated Rainbow Pool and Patio for two years and owned Best Academy Child Development Center for nine years. Ruth was a member of Main Street Baptist Church for over 56 years. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 26th from 11:00am to 11:30am at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow with a graveside service at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Main Street Baptist AWANA Fund.
