Bartow - Joseph Smothers, age 64, passed away January 24, 2024, at Bartow Regional Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1959, in Bartow, FL. He was a Permits Inspector for FDOT. He was a Commander in the Royal Rangers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and doing leather work. He was preceded in death by his daughter Stephanie D. Smothers and father James Cary Smothers. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife Paula Smothers of Bartow, daughter Christie Smothers of Bartow, son Joe Smothers (Kristen) of Bartow, sister Sonya A. Garner of Carson, MS, brother Tim Smothers of Bartow, granddaughter Stephanie Smothers, Mother Lenore Mooneyham and many nieces & nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
