Joseph L. Glossick passed away on April 24, 2021. He was born Joey L. Glossick on November 17, 1947 at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. His mother was Eleanor Mae Glossick (Arkless) and his father’s name was Joseph Edward Glossick. He was the youngest of six children. Joan L (Glossick) McInnis, James E. Glossick, Richard E. Glossick, Diane Glossick, and Judith Ann (Glossick) Thornton. He grew up in East Peoria Illinois, and graduated from East Peoria Community College in 1965. In 1972, he graduated from Illinois Central College with an Associate’s degree. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1976 and earned his Master’s Degree in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army from December 11, 1966 until November 12, 1968 and was honorably discharged. He served in the 65th M.P. Company attached to the 529th M.P. Company Honor Guard. His career included Western Electric at Bell Laboratories, First National Bank in East Peoria, First National Bank in Washington, Kroger Warehouse and the Morton Police Department. At the Morton Police Department he held the position of Patrolman, Crime Prevention Officer, Detective, Administrative Sergeant and Patrol Sgt. He then relocated to Florida and was employed as a Mental Health Counselor and Family and Dependency Mediator for the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court for twenty five years as a contract provider (three years) and then employee (for 22 years). He was in many organizations and served as Treasurer and President of the Illinois Crime Prevention Officers Association of Illinois; Secretary of the Bartow Rotary club from 1998 until 2002. President of the Bartow Rotary in 2002-2003 and 2017-2018. He was a Rotarian since 1997. He married Kyle Marie Baldwin September 14, 1997. He has two daughters; Regina Elizabeth (Glossick) Cox and Lara Katherine (Glossick) Fuller. Two step daughters Laura Diane Speth and Catherine June (Speth) Gass. He was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor and Joseph Glossick; his sister Diane Glossick; his brothers James and Richard Glossick and daughter Jacqueline Glossick. He is survived by his wife Kyle Glossick of 24 years, two daughters Lara and Regina, two step daughters, Laura and Catherine, 9 grandchildren and two sisters, Joan and Judy. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1pm to 2pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
