Winter Haven- Jose Luis "Big Joe" Torres, 42, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Winter Haven Hospital of respiratory failure. Born March 23, 1966 in Reading, PA. Mr Torres has been a resident of Winter Haven since 1986. He was employed at PalletOne of Bartow for twenty-four years as a respected co-worker and friend to everyone he worked with. He loved spending time with his wife, daughter, and family; fishing, football, and baseball. He was a little league and minor league coach for five years in Winter Haven. He is preceded in death by his father, Heriberto Torres. He is survived by his wife Ulaine M. Torres and was blessed with the birth of his daughter, Jolycia in 2003 and he is survived by his mother, Maria Torres, brothers Carlos M. Torres, Sr. and Hector L Torres all of Winter Haven; Edwin L. Torres of Bartow; Rafael Martinez of Atlantic City, NJ and Eddiberto Torres of Germany; and sisters Cathleen Hernandez of Mayslanding, NJ and Alberta Torres of Nashville, TN and nieces and nephews Maritza, Lizzy, Ernesto, Yari, Joshua, Raquel, Samantha, Carlos, Manuel, Joseluis, Victoria, Ariel, Kenny, Annette, Shawn, Ashley, R.J., and Keyshawn. We love you and you will be truly missed, Big Joe!
Family will receive friends Friday, February 20, 2009 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow, FL from 6pm to 8pm; the Rosary will be at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 10:00am Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 532 Avenue M, NW, Winter Haven. The eulogy will be delivered by Mr. Hal Wallace, CEO of PalletOne, Bartow, FL. Interment in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven.
