John H. Williamson

John H. Williamson, 88, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure. Born January 29, 1923 in Woodberry, TN, Mr. Williamson was a resident of Lakeland since 1998, moving from Bartow. He was an Operating Engineer for the Engineers Local 925 of Tampa for over 30 years. He was a survivor of the Normandy Invasion in WW II with the US Army Amphibious Engineers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, Winter Haven. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Olis Williamson. He is survived by his wife: Jewell M. Williamson of Lakeland; two sons: Wayne Williamson & wife Mimi of Alturas; Alan L. Williamson & wife Christina of Bartow; brother: Wilbur L. Williamson of Estero, FL; step daughter: Diane Masters & step son: Michael Tighe both of Lakeland; two grandchildren & three great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 6 -8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fitzgerald Cemetery, Lakeland with military honors.
