John Ward Fitzgerald

J. Ward Fitzgerald, age 81, of Bartow, died Wednesday February 20, 2008 from complications due to pneumonia. Born January 5, 1927 in Savannah, GA, Mr. Fitzgerald was a longtime area resident. He previously worked as a constructional engineer assisting in the engineering and building of Cape Canaveral and the expansion of Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Mr. Fitzgerald most recently worked as a Drafting Instructor for Ridge Vo. Tech. Mr. Fitzgerald enjoyed life and laughter and such activities as spending time with family, golfing, and working in the yard. He will be missed by all including his numerous friends and church family at the First Baptist Church of Bartow, where he was a member. Mr. Fitzgerald was also a Navy Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma (Soeder) Fitzgerald. He is survived by a loving family that includes three daughters; Jan Fink (John) of Apollo Beach, Jeannie Ryan (Tim) of Lakeland, and Terri Knox (Allen) of Bartow. He also leaves behind a nephew, Mike Soeder (Rhonda), seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and his beloved dog Maggie. Visitation for Mr. Fitzgerald will be Saturday February 23, 2008 from 1 PM to 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Bartow, 410 East Church Street in Bartow.
