John Harlan Dewinkler

John Harlan DeWinkler, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was born August 21, 1942 in Miami, FL to John & Virginia DeWinkler. John graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and Deputy District Secretary for the Florida Department of Transportation District 1. After retiring from FDOT, John became the Senior Vice President and partner with Wilson-Miller Engineering in Naples, FL. He loved playing golf and cheering on his Florida Gators. John is survived by his wife Jo Ann Summers DeWinkler of Lake Wales, five sons Jeff DeWinkler & wife Donna of Elmer City, WA, Erik DeWinkler of Tampa, FL, Roy "Gator" Mitchell & wife Ashton of Lexington, SC, John DeWinkler & wife Vann of McLean, VA and Rick Stepp & wife Allison of Atlanta, GA, brother Fred DeWinkler & wife Lori of Opie, KS, two sisters Mary DeWinkler Bruce & husband Herbert of Hiawassee, GA and Nancy DeWinkler Silvestri & husband Richard of Fort Pierce, FL, ten grandchildren Joel, Jordon, Justus, Nessa, Jackson, Bryce, Ava, Kipton, Kade and Tenley and four great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
