John Horace Davis

Lakeland- John Horace Davis, age 75, passed away on Tuesday October 9, 2018 in Lakeland. Born June 8, 1943 in Conway, NC, he was the son of the late Rufus C. and Mabel (Lassiter) Davis. Mr. Davis worked for many years as a Supervisor for Florida Sheet Metal in Lakeland and retired from Key Safety Systems where he worked as a Technician. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow. Along with his parents, Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his daughter Sherry D. Ballentine and his brother R.C. Davis. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, of 53 years, Frances R. Davis of Lakeland and his daughter Ellen D. Bunner (Sean) of Saint Petersburg. He also leaves behind his siblings: Pearl Deane Bryant (Bahnson) of Jackson, NC, Lee Davis (Evon) of Kilmarnock, VA, Priscilla Parks (Charles) of Littleton, NC, Susie Davis (Chester) of Kernersville, NC, Diane Vann(Tommy) of Conway, NC and his five grandchildren: Bryan, Daniel, Jonny, Katie and David. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 12th from 1pm to 2pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home chapel. Interment with funeral services will also be held in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bartow, 410 East Church Street, Bartow, FL 33830.
