John D. Campbell

Fort Meade - John D. Campbell, age 86, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021. He was born April 11, 1935 in Nelsonville, OH to Donald & Margaret Campbell. John served in the US Air Force during the Korean and Gulf wars where he was a cryptograph technician and a radio technician. He also served for the Air National Guard in Massachusetts and Florida. He was an Electrician for Florida Power between serving in the Korean and Gulf wars. He was of the Christian faith being a member of the Methodist and Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother Charles Campbell & James Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Joyce Campbell of Fort Meade, daughters Heidi Scott & husband Keith of Sherrills Ford, NC, Marlene Whiitten & husband Carl of Pinellas Park, FL, Lynn Mercer & husband John of Winter Haven, son Jerry Campbell & wife Bobbi of Summerville, MO, grandchildren Eric Schwartz & wife Megan of Clearwater, Mark Westgate & wife Shannon of Winter Haven, Melissa Westgate of Fort Meade, great grandchild Oliver Schwartz, sister Martha Platt & her deceased husband Lloyd of Murphy, NC and brother Donald Campbell & wife Bonnie of Morganton, GA. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday, July 9, 2021 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm Friday, July 9, 2021 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Coe officiating and military honors.
