John A. Brooks Iii

John A. Brooks, III, age 55, of Bartow, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, of cancer at his residence in Bartow. Born June 21, 1954 in Lakeland, Mr. Brooks has been a resident of Bartow since 1961, moving from Winter Haven. Mr. Brooks was a cartographer for the Polk County Commissioners, employed with the County for 27 years. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church of Auburndale. He was a former coordinator for the Great Bible Read Through in Polk County for several years. He is survived by his wife: Maylee Brooks; son: Elijah & wife Cassandra Brooks; daughter: Joy Brooks; brother: David & wife Jenny Brooks all of Bartow; sister: Sharon & husband Keith Snyder of Altamonte Springs; two grandchildren: Haley & Gabrielle Roberson both of Bartow. Family will receive friends Saturday, December 26, 2-3 pm at Crossroads Community Church, 2583 Thornhill Road, Auburndale. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm at the church. A meal will be served from 1-2 pm at the church. Interment will be at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214
