Winter Haven - JoAnn Adamson, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016. JoAnn was born December 24, 1933 in Monroe, WI, to Howard and Leona Lundy. She earned a degree as an elementary school teacher and taught school for her first few years of marriage. She has lived many places: Milwaukee, WI; Carmel, CA, Frankfurt am Main and Garmish-Partenkirchen, Germany; and Troy, OH. Traveling was always a passion for her. She was a resident of Winter Haven since 1975, moving from Troy, OH, She was a Homemaker and loved to play golf and bridge. The friendships with her golf and bridge club enlivened many days. Until losing her eyesight, she was a voracious reader. She focused on raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren. Her children’s successes are due to her nurturing and kindness. Spending time reading to her children and later grandchildren was a special time for everyone. JoAnn’s Catholic faith was central to her life and helped her cope with losing a child at three months and all of life’s turbulent eddies. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church since 1975. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin John Adamson. She is survived by her sister, Lois Mann of Freeport, IL, her daughter Deborah Ruster & husband Greg of Bartow, FL. Two sons: Kenet Adamson & wife Nancy of Asheville, NC and Eric Adamson & wife Susan of Lakeland, FL. She had a special friendship with Gary Burgess for many years and appreciates all that he did to make her life special. She has seven Grandchildren: Alyss Ruster, Devin Ruster, Maryssa Ruster, Tanner Adamson, Davis Adamson, Raene (Derek) Daniel, and Haley Adamson. She has one great-grandchild, Jayce Daniel. Funeral service will be 9:00 am Monday, June 13, 2016 at St Matthews Catholic Church, 1991 Overlook Dr. in Winter Haven, FL. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL. Memorials may be made to American SIDS Institute at www.sids.org or Winter Haven Hospital Foundation.
