Joan Duncan Mcgill

Joan Duncan McGill 93, Of Bartow, Florida passed away of natural causes on March 14, 2025 at Bartow regional medical center. She was was born in Duncan S.C. on November 8, 1931 and lived in Greer S.C. until moving to Florida in 1949 after her Graduation from Greer High School. Joan became one of the first employees of Publix Supermarkets, later working for Citrus and Chemical Bank in Bartow and then for Polk General Hospital in Bartow as a Medical Data Analyst until her retirement. In her Spare time Joan was an accomplished portrait artist painting a large number of portraits, many of which still hang in prominent places around Polk county and in other states. She was also a very talented crafter making her own distinct slippers, winter caps, hand towels, as well as designing and hand making many of her own clothes. She was and remains a devout Christian. She is survived by her son Rex Bruce McGill and daughter Linda G. McGill as well as Daughter in law Linda A. McGill all of Bartow. She was preceded in death by her Husband Rex H. McGill, her firstborn Son Franklin Steven McGill and Her Brother W. Frank Duncan Jr. all of Bartow. Joan requested no funeral services be held for her as she felt life should be celebrated with good memories and few tears.
