Jimmy "James" Adams

Jimmy "James" Adams, age 86, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, in Winter Haven. Born April 4, 1936, in Lagrange, GA, he was the son of the late Johnny and Pauline (Vaughn) Adams. Mr. Adams was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He retired from U.S. Agri-Chemicals after many years of service as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. James was also the Past President of the Union Local #377, a certified flight instructor and pilot. He was a member of the Highland City Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, his son, Jimmy Adams, Jr. and granddaughter, April Moorman. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila Adams, his children: Brenda Weber Botts (Bud), John Adams, Jamie Paulison, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and daughter of the heart, Charlene Strickland. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:30 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Committal services with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
