Jim P. Stephens

Jim P. Stephens, age 84, passed away from cancer Monday September 24, 2007 at his home in Bartow. Born June 14, 1923 in Pelham, GA, Mr. Stephens came to Bartow 54 years ago. Mr. Stephens was a Meter Reader for the City of Bartow and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow. He was also a former deacon at Wildwood Baptist Church in Bartow. Mr. Stephens was a Army veteran of WWII and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He is survived by his wife Maggie Mae Stephens, two sons; Jimmie C. Stephens (Barbara) of Highland City, Rev. David E. Stephens (Marcia) of Orlando, his sister, Lorine Palmer of Bartow, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Stephens will be Friday, September 28, 2007 from 9 AM to 10 AM atr Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street Bartow. Services will follow at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
