Jesse Durrance Shirley, age 40, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 in an airboat accident in Highlands Cunty. Jesse was born in Lakeland on September 25, 1972. He helped own and operate Shirley Groves in Polk and Highlands Counties. Jesse had a great love for life, family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Loyd and Gladys Shirley and his maternal grandfather Dutch Kinsey. He is survived by his wife Kimberly Lyle Shirley of Lake Placid, his children; Sandy Jo, Jenna, Jake, and six grandchildren. He also leaves behind his father Richard Shirley (Faye) of Fort Meade, his mother Jenny Kensey of Tallahassee, his sister Maria Standley of CA, his brother Colin Shirley of Fort Meade, his uncles; Tom Shirley (Laura) of Lake Placid, Stuart Shirley of Fort Meade, his aunt Debbie Hall of Fort Meade, his maternal grandmother Juanita Kinsey and cousin Leah Shirley of Tampa, along with many other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, June 14th at the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade from 1PM to 2PM. A memorial service will follow at 2:00PM at the church.
