Jerry Thornton Morgan

Jerry Thornton Morgan, 73, passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital, on October 21, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved  wife of 56 years, Sherri “Me-Me” Morgan, daughters Susan Douglas, Carol Bass and son Jerry Todd Morgan. He was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Wooten. Jerry has eight grandchildren, Shaunna, Robby, Nicki, Josh, Courtney, Emily, Sylvia and Marin. Five great- grandchildren, Marcus, Jada, Ahlea, Brody and Lil Rob. Jerry was born in Orlando to Claude & Ollie Morgan on December 6, 1943.He had two sisters, Onna & Clara and two brothers, George and Bill. Jerry loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He touched the lives of many and will be truly missed. Jerry was a Firefighter/EMT at Bartow Fire Department and bravely served his community for 29 years. He was also a Supervisor for the City of Bartow in Parks and Recreation Dept. for 9 years and continued to work after his retirement up until the time his health would allow. Funeral Services will be held at Bartow First Assembly 915 S. Broadway Av., Bartow on October 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
