Jerry R. Gibson

Bartow - Jerry R. Gibson, age 79, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at his home in Bartow . Born May 22, 1942 in St Petersburg, FL to John and Zetta Coker Gibson, Jerry was a longtime resident of the Bartow and Fort Meade area.. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his Country in the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the Bartow American Legion Post #3. Most of Jerry's career was in the agriculture and cattle industry. While living in Cape Coral, Fl, for ten years, he was the Supervisor of the storm water systems for the City of Cape Coral. He also was in the steel fabrication industry as an industrial construction contractor for many years. He was employed with Semco Construction Company in Bartow in the 1970's & 80's. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents John Milton and Zetta Coker Gibson, brother Wayne Gibson and sister Marsha Beach. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Jeanette R. Gibson, Bartow; his son: John R. Gibson (Marla) of Arcadia, FL; his daughter: Angelia G. Kladakis of Lakeland; a sister: Phyllis J. Norris (Gordon) of Wauchula; a grandson: Jake Kladakis of Port Saint Lucie, FL;three granddaughters: Ashlynn, Kayla & Brianna Gibson and his extended family:- Darryl & Jerrell Turner. Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. A celebration of life service will follow at 5:00pm at the funeral home.
