Cecelia Lewis (Jean) Hull, age 87, died of respiratory failure Wednesday evening , March 28, 2012. Surrounded by her three loving children, she passed away peacefully at the Hawthorne Inn in Lakeland. Born in Orlando, FL December 04, 1924, Jean grew up in Lakeland where, along with her siblings, Herman, Nita and Bobo, she helped out in her family's wholesale company before graduating from Lakeland High School. She attended University of Georgia during the War and regularly corresponded with her future husband, Robert H. Hull, Jr., while he served in the Pacific as a Marine officer. Jean and Bob married in November 1946 and lived in Philadelphia, Chicago and Dade City before settling in Bartow, where they lived the rest of their lives. Jean was an avid tennis player, serving as the first tennis coach of Santa Fe High School in Lakeland. She served as a volunteer with the Polk County Historical Society and was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert H. Hull, and a sister, Evora (Bobo) Roberts. Jean is survived by two sons: David Hull of Claremont, CA and Craig Hull of Lakeland; a daughter: Laura Hull Silva of Tampa; brother: Herman Lewis & sister: Juanita Lewis Sawyer both of Lakeland; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Hull, Jennifer Abshire, Rebecca Hull, Robert Hull III & Aaron Hull & 4 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4 to 6 PM at Whidden?McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the graveside at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery with Rev. Gary L. Jackson officiating. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow.
