James L. Young

James "J.L." Young, age 94, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his home in Connersville. Born January 20, 1922, he was the son of the late Daniel I. and Cora Lee Young. Mr. Young was a veteran and a former P.O.W. of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Young was a longtime resident of Alturas. He worked for many years in the citrus industry, including 20 years with Joe Ellis Citrus and 9 years with Wear Groves in Alturas. J.L. was a Baptist. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Gladys Paul Young in 2004 and his sister Wilma Wood earlier this year. Mr. Young is survived a loving family that includes his two children: Ted Young (Cindy) of Connersville, Syble Y. Wiggins (Ray) of Lakeland, his brother Herman Young of Boston, KY, along with twenty-three grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 23rd from 10am to 11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel.
