James D. Salley

James D. Salley, age 51, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospice Lakeland of cancer. Born November 13, 1963 in Lake Wales, to Robert A. & Lucy M. Salley, Mr. Salley was a longtime resident of Bartow, He was a graduate of Bartow High School, member of the High School Band and later in the Bartow Adult Concert Band. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Virginia. He was a former member of the Bartow Lions Club. He was a ESE Teacher for the Polk School Board for many years, last teaching at Crystal Lake Middle School in Lakeland. Mr. Salley is survived by his sister, Amber Jones (Jammie) of Bartow; nephew, Matthew Jones, Bartow; niece, Amylyn Torres, Lakeland and several great nieces & nephews. Family will receive friends Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
