James Ruel Reed, Jr.

James Ruel Reed, Jr., 78, of Fort Meade, FL, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Mr. Reed was born January 29, 1933 in Xena, IL. He served in the US Army. He worked in the Phosphate industry in industrial maintenance. He was a member of American Legion Post #23 and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents James Ruel Sr. & Ruth Reed and sister Wanda Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Betty Reed of Fort Meade. Daughter, Meloney Adams & husband Lonnie of Fort Meade. Son, James Ruel Reed, III & wife Shari of Winter Haven. Brother, William F. Reed & wife Edith of Ferguson, MO. Granddaughter, Cristina Barnes & husband Jeremy of Bartow. Great Grandson, John Lamar Barnes and several nieces & nephews. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway in Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, March 31, 2011. Funeral service will be at McLean Funeral Home at 11:00 am Friday, April 1, 2011, Rev. Travis Risner officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
