James L. Powell

James L. Powell, age 78, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Winter Haven. Born on November 2, 1939 in Glenwood, GA, Mr. Powell was a longtime area resident. James was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for many years. He attended the Bethel Church of God in Eagle Lake. Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Gail Williams in 2011. James is survived by a loving family that includes his wife,of 58 years Louise Powell of Winter Haven, his three children: Connie Powell of Bartow, Ronnie Powell (Debra) and Gene Powell (Lynn) all of Winter Haven. He also leaves behind his brother, Douglas Powell of Dublin, GA, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30th from 10am to 11am at the Bethel Church of God, 4725 Fighter Road in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the church.
