James Howard Orth was born in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1944. He was the son of Margery Besse Orth and Howard Hupp Orth. Jim moved to Bartow, Florida in 1961 and attended Summerlin Institute for his senior year, graduating in 1962. Jim joined the Army in April of 1965 and was stationed in Ft. Monmouth, NJ. He was picked to teach electronics and remained at Ft. Monmouth for his service. He was honorably discharged in April of 1968. In August of 1968 Jim married Marsha Rowland and were married for 38 years. They had a son, James Edward (Jamie) Orth in November of 1971. Jim worked for Crown Electric for many years. He later worked for Breed Technologies and Armaz Chemicals. He retired in 2006. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. Jim was a lifetime member of The American Legion Post #3 in Bartow and was also a member of Post #72 in Mulberry. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard. Jim is survived by his mother, Margery, his son Jamie (Wife Darci Bryan) and grandchildren Juliana, Jaden, and Joeci. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 26th at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow at 2:30 with family receiving loved ones and friends at 2pm.
