James P. Mckellar

February 14, 1926 — January 27, 2011

James P. McKellar 84 of Bartow peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2011. Born in TY TY, GA on February 14, 1926 he was raised in Worth County, Ga. James served as the Sheriff of Norman Park, Ga in 1953 before retiring from Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. with 45 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening, tending his own orange grove and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Mulberry and also a United States Marine Corp Veteran. James was preceded in death by three brothers Frank McKellar, Lee McKellar, Joseph Junior McKellar and a sister Vernell Boatwright. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of sixty five years Eleanor McKellar of Bartow; son Gerald McKellar and wife Yvonne of Lake Placid; three daughters Gail Conyer and husband Tommy of Naples; Cindy Hofstetter and husband Phillip of Bartow and Kim McKellar of Bartow; two brothers Ben McKellar of Norman Park, GA and Charles McKellar of Moultrie, GA ; three sisters Louise McKellar Spotanski of Moultrie, GA; Dollie McKellar Crumley of Omega, GA and Mary Ann Mckellar Edmonson of Tifton, GA; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
