James Cloyce Harrison, age 102, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 in Bartow. Born March 1, 1914 in Hartford, AL, he was the son of the late Lewis O. and Evie (Turner) Harrison. Cloyce was a carpenter and a painter for Roux and Company in Lake Garfield for many years. He also served in the Civil Conservation Corp. and loved to fish and garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Garfield. Along with his parents, Mr. Harrison is preceded in death by his first wife Mattie Lou Harrison, his second wife Vera Harrison and his son-in-law Lamar King and six siblings. He is survived by three daughters: Barbara Chauncey (Claude), Hilda King all of Bartow, and Connie Cantrell (Tommy) of Blairsville, GA. He also leaves behind his siblings Margie Bryant, Roy Harrison, and James O. Harrison along with seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21st from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Friday, April 22nd at 10:00am at the funeral home chapel.
