James H. Williams

Old Town - James H. Williams, age 84, passed away April 1, 2024 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born January 17, 1940 in Spring Creek, GA. James enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family whether it was camping, swimming or getting together for a cookout. He was a heavy equipment operator in the phosphate industry but is best known for this unmatched sense of humor and innate ability to assign everyone he met with a nickname. Mr. Williams is predeceased by his parents, Robert Taylor Williams and Gertie May Gordy; brothers, Alvin "Pete" Williams, Earl Williams, David Williams and John Williams; sisters, Mary Watson and Betty Lassitter. He is survived by his loving family that includes his wife of 60 years, Sydnia Williams; daughter, Betty Williams (Michael Hatter), of Cross City; son, James Dean Williams (Heather Williams), of Bartow; son, Paul Williams; and grandchildren, Jacob David Williams, Shaun Williams, Gerald Abrams, Jr., and Courtney Williams. Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10:00 am to11:00 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL.
