James Downing

Mr. James E. "Shack" Downing died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Bartow Regional Medical Center. He was 75. Born April 1, 1932 in Mulberry, he was a lifelong Polk County Resident. Mr. Downing worked for the City of Bartow for 40 years. He was a baptist and also served in the Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Downing of Bartow, two daughters; Sharon Dillard, and Vera McCrimmon both of Bartow, two sons; James Edward Downing of Greenville, FL , William Leonard Downing of Bartow. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Stephaine Schultz, Jamie Downing, Linda Downing, Mamie Downing, Cody Downing Walker, James Downing, Jeremy McCrimmon, Lucas Thompson, Dustin Downing, and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday September 6, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Services will follow Friday September 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow.
