James Charles "J.C." Brown, age 86, of Bartow, died Monday, December 15, 2008, in Lafayette, GA. of heart failure. Born July 18, 1922 in Floral City, FL, to his parents Charles James Brown & Bertha Klapp Brown. A graduate of Crystal River High School in 1942, Mr. Brown entered the United States Army, serving with the Army Air Force Operations in the China, Burma and India Theaters. Mr. Brown and his wife Alma moved to Bartow in 1946 and was a longtime Bartow resident, moving briefly to Sharpsburg Ga. He was a maintenance and operations supervisor with Exxon Mobil Corp. in the phosphate division and retired in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bartow. He is preceded in death by his wife Alma S. Brown; a brother Bennie Brown and 2 sisters: Mildred Williams and Eve Brown. He is survived by his son: Steve & wife Jenny Brown of Bartow; daughter: Cheryl & husband Michael Tuttle of Sharpsburg, Ga. One brother Ronnie & wife Harriet Brown of Melborne. Grandchildren: Scott & wife Lisa Tuttle; Chris & wife Sabrina Tuttle; Jason & wife Jennifer Tuttle; John David Brown; Dan & wife Nicole Varner and Lindsey & husband Trey Anderson and 5 Great Grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 am at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
