James Wesley Asbell

Fort Meade - James Wesley Asbell, 64 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15,2013 at Tampa General Hospital due to cancer. James was born in Bartow, FL on Sept.18,1949 to Norman and Maggie Asbell. He spent most of his life in Polk County area working in irrigation and operating heavy equipment. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1970. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles Dannelley and Glenn Asbell. He is survived by daughters: Jill (James) Hudson, Leah (Chris) Winzer and Nancy Albritton; Grandsons Andrew Winzer and Ezekiel Gregg. He is also survived by his first and last love, Dorothy Taylor and his former wife and good friend, Wanda Gorsuch; and numerous "adopted" children, grandchildren and a large "family of friends" whom he loved very much. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov.9, 2013 at 11:00 am at McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway in Fort Meade, FL. Following the service there will be a covered dish dinner at Peace River Park, 2nd pavillion, to celebrate the life of this loving and giving man. A private burial will be held later.
