James A. Harrison

James A. Harrison, Sr, 86, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Winter Haven Hospital of respiratory failure. Born November 3, 1925 in Lowery, AL, Mr. Harrison was a longtime resident of the Lake Buffum & Bartow area. He was a supervisor for U.S. Steel Phosphate Co. for many years. He attended the Bartow First Assembly of God. He served in the Merchant Marines during WW II. He was survived by four sons: James A. Harrison, Jr. & Glenn Harrison, both of Bartow; Dennis O. Harrison of Lakeland & Jerry Harrison of Lake Buffum. daughter: Diane Hill of Plant City; brother: Van Harrison of Connersville; sister: Betty Young of Bartow; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday, July 2, 2012 from 10 -11 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery.
