Jack Howard, 87, of Homeland, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Vitas Hospice in Winter Garden, Fla. Born January 20, 1922 in Alabama, Mr. Howard has been a lifelong resident of Homeland. Mr. Howard was a carpenter in residential construction most of his life. He was also a security guard for OrangeCo of Bartow for several years. He was a WW II Navy veteran. He attended the Homeland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wives: Irena Howard & Alice Howard. He is survived by his son: Jack David Howard (Valerie) of Homeland; 5 daughters: Mary Ann Howard (Larry Smith) of Homeland, Lelia Childers (Ernie) of Augusta, GA; Linda Estes (Tom) of LaBelle; Joanne Taylor (Dan) & Dolores Tew all of Bartow; sister: Annie Earle Mathis of Mulberry; 11 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday May 4, 2009 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 am at Homeland Baptist Church, 208 Church Street, Homeland.
