Ira Strickland, Jr.

Bartow- Ira Strickland, Jr., age 84, passed away on January 1, 2021 in Lakeland. Born April 13, 1936 in Cairo, GA, he was the son of the late Ira Strickland, Sr. and Mattie (Johnson) Strickland. Ira was a mechanic in the auto industry for many years. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #397 in Tampa and the International Union of Operating Engineers #487. Mr. Strickland is survived by his children: Kenneth Strickland (Sheryl) of Bartow, Dean Strickland (Sherri) of Fort Meade, and Dorinda Owens (Marty) of Lake Wales. He also leaves behind his sisters: Frances Locke (Carl) of Bartow, Margaret Skipper of Fort Meade along with eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8th from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. A graveside service will follow on Saturday, January 9th at 10:00am at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
