Ila Wiggins

Bartow- Mrs. Ila Wiggins, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home in Bartow on Monday, June 22, 2020. A Florida native, Ila was born to John and Lessie (Sullivan) McDuffie on July 29, 1921 in Arcadia. Mrs. Wiggins attended Lake Garfield School in the late 1930's and was the Valedictorian of her 8th grade class. During her younger years, she worked for Lake Garfield Packing House and Alturas Packing Company as a fruit grader. She was a homemaker and formerly attended Blessed Assurance Temple in Bartow. Ila will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman of strong faith, exemplifying the love of Jesus. She had a servant's heart, putting other's needs above her own. Mrs. Wiggins is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Floyd Wiggins, Sr., her sons: Ronnie Wiggins and Danny Wiggins along with a grandson, Sherman Wiggins, five sisters and two brothers. Ila is survived by a loving family that includes her children: Marvin Wiggins (Laura), Ralph Wiggins (Jenny), David Wiggins (Rae) and Carol Matthews (Clark) all of Bartow. She also leaves behind her brother, Bob McDuffie of Fort Meade, Daughter-in-law Jeannie Wiggins of Campbellsville, KY, fourteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 10am to 11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home.
