Houghie B. Chumney, Sr.

Hughie B. Chumney, Sr., age 94, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Auburndale. Born October 23, 1921 in Madrid, AL, he was the son of the late A.B. and Medie (Belle) Chumney. Hughie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. Mr. Chumney retired from Polk County where he worked as the Chief Electrical and Plumbing Inspector. He was of the Baptist Faith. Hughie is preceded in death by his wife Annie W. Chumney and his daughter Judy Borden. He is survived by his son Hughie B. Chumney, Jr. and wife Virginia, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 28th from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, March 29th at 3:00pm at the funeral home chapel.
