Harry E. White

Mr. Harry E. White, age 83, passed away from respiratory failure, Monday, April 9, 2012 in Winter Haven. Born October 5, 1928 in Bartow, Mr. White was the son of the late John B. and Blanche (Paulk) White. Mr. White served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a longtime member of the Bartow First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus. Mr. White was a Past President of the Bartow Kiwanis Club, Bartow Chamber of Commerce and the Polk Senior Games. Harry was a former Director for Citrus and Chemical Bank, and was a Trustee for the Florida Baptist Children's Home and South Florida Baptist Association. He was heavily involved in V.I.S.T.E., formerly serving as a Director. Mr. White was well known as the Owner and Operator of White's Men's Shop of Bartow for many years. He also formerly served as the South Regional Vice President for the Menswear Retailers of America. Mr. White was the President of White's Consulting Group, Inc.. Harry is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 61 years, Karrie J. White, two daughters; Judy Brandon and husband Nathan of Canton, GA, Nancy McLeod and husband Nolan of Auburndale, and his son David White and daughter-in-law Kelly of Bartow. He also leaves behind his brother, John B. White, Jr. of Atlanta, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow where the family will receive friends from 5PM to 7PM on Friday, April 13th. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00AM at the Bartow First Baptist Church, 410 East Church Street in Bartow.
