Harry F. Pischke 84 of Bartow passed away Tuesday July 20, 2010 from respiratory failure. Born in Pittsburg, PA he moved to Polk County from Plantation, FL 25 years ago. Harry worked as a Engineer for AT&T and Bell telephone Companies before his career as a Commercial Airline Pilot flying 15 years for Eastern Airlines. A WWII Veteran he served in the Army Air Corp as a Pilot and flew a B-29 Super Fortress. Based on the Island of Saipan Harry flew bombing raids over Japan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartow; the Heart of Florida walk to Emmaus Community and the American Legion Post #8 Winter Haven. He is survived by his wife Rebecca "Becky" Barber Pischke of Bartow; two sons Steven Pischke of Middleburg, VA and Kenneth Pischke of Woodstock, GA; one daughter Susan Jones of Marietta, GA; one brother Norman Pischke of Ocala, Fl and six grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 10-11am at The First United Methodist Church in Bartow Saturday July 24, 2010 and services will begin at 11am.
