Hardy D. Faircloth, age 73, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Lakeland. Hardy was born on September 19, 1942 in Roseboro, NC. He was the son of John S. and Macie (Sessoms) Faircloth. Mr. Faircloth retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church in Bartow and formerly of New Beginnings Church of God in Fort Meade. Hardy is preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Doyle and step son Douglas Ham. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 25 years, Sharon Faircloth, two children: Hardy "Sonny" D. Faircloth, II of AK, Leslie Selph (Nicky) of Wauchula, and his step son Matthew "Scott" Ham (Chrystal) of Wauchula, He also leaves behind four siblings: Livingston Faircloth of Encino, CA, Mary M. Lambert of Wade, NC, Mavis Brown of NY, Kay Hamilton of PA, along with thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 15th from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Tuesday, February 16th at 10:00am at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church, 1125 Hwy. 17 South in Bartow. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
