H. George Burke

Mr. H. George Burke, Jr., age 84, of Bartow, FL, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Mr. Burke was born September 2, 1924 in Tampa, FL. Mr. Burke was a graduate of Georgia Tech. He served in the United States Navy for 3 years. He was a member and very active in the Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was Elder Emeritus. George was a past president and board member for Polk Community College and Bartow Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Lallie Burke and Daughter Susan Duckett. He is survived by his one daughter, Mrs. Becky & husband Bill Keightley of Savannah, GA. Grandson, Walter & wife Ashley Bowden; granddaughter Melanie & husband Luis Simon; Great Grandson, Marcos Simon. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at noon at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 East Stanford Street in Bartow.
