Grigorios “Gregory” Chalvatzis

Grigorios “Gregory” Chalvatzis was born in Athens, Greece on August 23, 1939. Gregory was in the Greek Merchant Marine and immigrated from Greece to Galveston, Texas in 1959. He made his way to Cleveland, Ohio, where he met his wife, Dolores who worked in a local diner. They were wed on July 30,1959 and were happily married for 62 years until her passing on January 2, 2022. Gregory had four children. George (Joann), Christine (deceased), Deborah (Jeffrey) Knobloch, and Dolores (Jack – Deceased). Gregory has 2 grandchildren. Paul Barefoot and Gregrory (Rosa) Chalvatzis.

Dolores and Gregory moved from Ohio to Fort Lauderdale in 1970. Gregory was a draftsman, electrical and mechanical engineer as well as a teacher. In 1996 they retired and moved to Big Pine Key. In 2020 they relocated to Bartow, Florida.

Gregory was fortunate to have traveled the world and visited many places in America, Mexico, and Europe. Gregory enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and swimming. He enjoyed being outdoors and soaking in the sun.

Gregory led an adventurous and extraordinary life and was happy all the time. Everyone who knew him loved him, and he was always eager to help a friend. He was a devoted family man and will be sorely missed.
