Greta Jean Simmons La Baw

Greta Jean Simmons La Baw, 81, of Linville Land Harbor and Bartow, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at her home in Land Harbor.A native of Avon Park, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Burtis and Effie Adams Simmons. She was a former member of the First Baptist of Miami Springs and First Baptist of Hialeah. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher and choir member at both churches. She attended the Asbury Methodist Church in Bartow, First Baptist Church of Newland, and was currently attending the Newland United Methodist Church.She was a home maker and substitute teacher for the Miami Dade School System.She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and all those she touched throughout her life.She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 61 years, Jerome E. La Baw, Sr.; sons, Jerome E. La Baw, Jr., of Iowa, Scott S. (Phyllis) La Baw of Florida; daughter, Sandra L. (Susan) La Baw of Iowa; Grandchildren, Nicole La Baw and Carson La Baw. Services for Greta La Baw were held on Saturday, October 22, at 4:00 p.m. in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Dr. Louis Woodard officiating. A private internment service was held Saturday, October 29, at the Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, Florida.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church 1650 S.
