Gladys Tyson West

Lake Wales - Gladys Tyson West, age 87, passed away April 10, 2018. She was born on November 14, 1930 in Bartow, Florida. Mrs. West was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Votie Tyson. She was married to the late John West for 62 years. Gladys was a graduate of Summerlin Institute, class of 1947, and stayed in touch with classmates and still attended class reunions. She was a member of Gandy Baptist Church. She is preceded by two sons, Michael West, Wilbur West and a daughter Susan West. Her brothers also precede her, Clyde, Carlton, Colon Sr. and Bobby Tyson. She is survived by two grandchildren, John West and Bridget West, and daughter in law Normita West, Las Vegas, NV. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the many people she has touched throughout her long and loving life. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 6:00 - 6:30 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street in Bartow, Florida, 33830. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Her ashes will be interned at a private ceremony at Gandy Cemetery in Connersville, Florida.
