Gladys L. Melton

Bartow - Gladys L. Melton, 97, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Highlands Lake Center in Lakeland. Born March 4, 1918 in Coffee County, GA, Mrs. Melton was a resident of Bartow since 1943, moving from Georgia. She was owner & operator of Gladys' Restaurant in Bartow for several years. Mrs Melton is preceded in death by her husband William "Horace" Melton, a daughter Jeanette Matthews, two sisters Fran Watson & Wayne Adkison, a grandson Paul Scott. She is survived by four sons: Richard Melton (Kim), Bartow; Talbert H. Melton (Carolyn), Ft. Myers, H.L. Melton (Wanda), Ocala & C.C. Melton (Pat), Lakeland. a daughter: Betty Binder, Bartow, sister: Kitty Buchanon & several grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday, September 28, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
