George A. Ford, Sr., 93, of New Smyrna Beach, died May 15, 2009 in Bartow. A frequent visitor to Bartow, Mr. Ford was born in Stilson, Georgia in 1915. He was a resident of Daytona Beach for many years. He married Lillian Tallant in 1938 and served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1946. After serving his apprenticeship in the carpentry field, George and his family moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1952. He and his business partner Clyde Wright started and operated Wright and Ford Mill Works from 1952 until 1984. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Ford. He is survived by his daughter: Georgiann & husband Sid Sumner of Bartow, son: Tony & wife Starr DeLoach Ford of Samsula; brother, Billy Ford of Port Orange; sister, Gertrude of Keystone Heights; six grand children: Wade Sumner & Lynn Mullin both of Bartow; Anthony Ford, Tonya Stein & Heidi Ford all of Samsula & Heather Seabolt of Winter Haven; six great grandchildren, A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the SNPJ Lodge, 421 N.
