George C. Fair

Mr. George C. Fair, age 79, of Fort Meade, FL, died Monday, November 12, 2007. Mr. Fair was born November 26, 1927 in Solon, NY. George and his wife, Florence of 50 years moved to Fort Meade from New York 34 years ago. Mr. Fair was employed by Kaplan Meat Packing, and he also worked in the produce and meat departments at Smiling Jack's Market. Mr. Fair served in the US Army and the US Air Force during the Korean war, where he received a purple heart. He was preceded in death by his son Howard Fair. He is survived by his wife Florence Slocum Fair of Fort Meade. Two Daughters, Linda and Husband Dennis Gargus of Bowling Green, FL and Pam Fair of Bartow, FL Three Sons, Gary Fair of Fort Meade, Tim Fair of Fort Meade, and J. J. and Wife Denise Fair of Fort Meade. One Sister, Jessie Fuller of Syracuse, N.Y. One Brother, Howard and Wife Bea Fair of Yacaipa, Calif. Eight Granddaughters; Tiffany Fair, Jeri Fair, Kimberly Fair, Eva Johnson all of Fort Meade and Katharine Stephanson of Bartow, Angel and Husband Daniel Thorn of Fort Meade, Heather and Husband James Thornton of Fort Meade, and Chelsea Gargus of Fort Meade. Four Grandsons; Steven and Wife Tonya Fair of Winter Haven, Timothy Fair of Fort Meade, Jonny Gargus of Fort Meade and Jesse Gargus also of Fort Meade. Eight Great -Grandchildren: Dylan Fair of Winter Haven; Lala Thorn, Jasmine Thorn, Nancy Thorn, Daniel Thorn, Jr., Justin Thornton, Serenity Thornton and Phillip Thornton all of Fort Meade. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL. Visitation will be Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM on at McLean Funeral Home.
